Exclusive Site Tour
N: Tuesday, November 20, 2008
8:30am - 11:30am
Site Tour Inside Institute for Training & Simulation

There are two major challenges facing learning executives today: the need to integrate a wide variety of technology systems and content types, and the need to present content in a way that is relevant to the individual learner. These problems are getting more difficult as the number of content types and technology systems proliferate and the trend toward aligning learning programs with business initiatives accelerates the need for relevance.
In this interactive site tour we'll explore the crossroads of technologies that are reshaping the way software simulations are created and integrated into a performance-oriented workflow which greatly improves the work process, speed, and accuracy of complex operations. We'll explore the process that can be used, along with new tools and technologies, to provide truly collaborative development and further speed the rapid development of process-oriented simulations. Site tour participants will have the opportunity to try out the latest learning technology as the tour will include a selection of the following simulations: The site tour will include a selection of these simulation rooms:
RAPTER's Transportation Simulator Lab includes six different driving simulators and support work stations for advanced training and the game lab, where research applies off-the-shelf PC games such as Rainbow 6, MS Flight SIM and Grand Theft Auto, to real world applications, such as Army Ranger training, Navy Flight training and commercial truck driver training.
Interactive Realities Lab will demonstrate novel use of augmented reality with the use of a tourniquet application training simulator, head-mounted visual displays and haptic (sense of touch) devices.
Virtual Classroom will explore how high-tech puppeteering can take an entertainment or educational experience to a new level!
MR Supply Depot
Using HMDs and bluescreen technology join in exploring how a small physical space can be expanded into a large mixed reality experience.
MR Kitchen will show video footage of a past pilot project that recreated a patient's kitchen for use in cognitive rehabilitation
